What prescription range can AI glasses accommodate?

Prescription ranges vary by product: 

Products: Ray-Ban Meta optics styles, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), Oakley Meta HSTN. Prescription range: -12.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL. Lens options: Single vision and progressive 

Product: Meta glasses. Prescription range: -6.00 to +2.25 SPH+CYL. Lens options: Single vision and progressive 

Product: Meta Ray-Ban Display. Prescription range: -4.00 to +4.00 SPH+CYL. Lens options Single vision only 

On Meta.com, orders are currently supported for prescriptions within -6.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL. For prescriptions outside this range, please visit other certified retailers. 

What if my prescription is outside the recommended range?

We recommend consulting your eye care provider for suitable alternatives. You may also visit a certified retailer that supports a wider prescription range. 

Can I add a prescription to sun or Transitions lenses?

Yes. Prescription lenses are available in clear, sun, Transitions, and polarized (blue-violet light filtering) lens options. 

Are progressive lenses available for AI glasses?

Yes. Progressive lenses are designed for people who require more than one vision correction, such as nearsightedness and farsightedness. The lens surface has different prescription areas but appears completely seamless. 

Select AI glasses are available with progressive lenses directly from Meta.com, but Meta Ray-Ban Display is not compatible with progressive lenses. 

What is Pupillary Distance (PD) and why does it matter?

Your Pupillary Distance (PD) is the distance in millimeters between the center of one pupil to the center of the other. It determines which part of the lens you look through, ensuring optimal comfort and clarity. Your prescription may include one PD value (a single measurement for both eyes) or two values (one per eye). Both formats are normal. Some eye care providers measure each eye individually for greater precision, while others provide a single combined measurement. Either format works when ordering your lenses. An accurate PD measurement is important because an incorrect PD can cause eye strain, fatigue, or difficulty seeing clearly, especially with higher prescriptions. 

How is the prescription integrated into Meta Ray-Ban Display lenses?

The prescription is bonded directly to the waveguide during lens fabrication. This provides visual correction without disrupting the display, and means the lenses are custom-made for each order and cannot be swapped.

How do I order AI glasses with prescription lenses?

You will order prescription AI glasses directly from Meta.com. While on BestBuy.com, select your frame, then click the “Shop prescription lenses” link on the product page. You’ll be taken to Meta’s prescription site to complete your order. 

How can I tell if I have a valid prescription?

A valid prescription must include: (1) patient’s name, (2) date of exam (issue date), and (3) prescriber’s name and signature. 

Prescriptions typically expire one to two years from the issue date. Make sure to check your prescription for the specific expiration date before ordering. 

What if I don’t have a prescription or mine is expired?

You’ll need to obtain a new prescription from an eye care professional before purchasing lenses. You’ll upload it directly to Meta.com to order your prescription AI glasses. 

Can I add prescription lenses to Meta AI glasses I already own?

Yes. Most Meta AI glasses are compatible with prescription lenses. Your options depend on the product: 

Products: Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta HSTN, Meta Glasses. Add lenses later? Yes. Where: Certified retailer or your optical provider. 

Product: Oakley Meta Vanguard. Add lenses later? No, not available with prescription lenses. 

Product: Meta Ray-Ban Display. Add lenses later? No, at purchase only. Prescription must be ordered at time of purchase through a certified retailer. 

Note: The manufacturer warranty will remain intact only if prescription lenses are added at a certified retailer. 

Where can I try Meta Ray-Ban Display with my prescription?

Visit Meta’s demo finder to locate a nearby store that offers demos with prescription inserts. Demos use removable prescription inserts so that multiple customers can quickly try the glasses with their own prescription without needing to customize each unit. 

The final product does not use inserts. Your prescription will be fully integrated into the lenses for a more refined look and greater comfort. 

What to expect after ordering

How long will my prescription order take to arrive?

Delivery times vary by product. Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and Meta Glasses will take up to 14 days. Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses take five to eight weeks. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please check your order tracking. 

Can I reuse my own lenses on Meta Ray-Ban Display?

No. The prescription lenses are custom-made to work with the display and cannot be swapped. 

What if my prescription changes after I order Meta Ray-Ban Display?

You’ll need to place a new order with your updated prescription, since the lenses are custom-made with the prescription built in and cannot be replaced. 

Can I wear Meta Ray-Ban Display without the display turned on?

Yes. They function as regular prescription glasses when the display is off. 

After purchase — returns, insurance and care

Can I return prescription AI glasses?

Prescription AI glasses purchased on Meta’s prescription site are subject to Meta’s return and warranty policies. 

Return eligibility depends on where your prescription lenses were purchased: 

  • Purchased with prescription lenses from Meta’s prescription site or a certified retailer: Yes. Follow the return instructions provided at the time of purchase.
  • Prescription lenses added at a non-certified retailer: Please contact the non-certified retailer and review the warranty terms for any applicable restrictions.

Can I use vision insurance or HSA/FSA to pay for prescription AI glasses?

If you add prescription lenses to your AI glasses, your frame and lens purchase may be eligible for: 

  • Vision insurance reimbursement — submit your receipt to your insurance provider
  • Use of FSA (Flexible Spending Account) or HSA (Health Savings Account) funds

Simply submit your receipt to your provider for reimbursement on your frames and/or prescription lenses. Please confirm your coverage in advance, as Meta cannot verify reimbursement eligibility. 

How do I clean my prescription lenses?

Use a dampened cloth with mild soap and avoid solvents and alcohol. Never use dirty or abrasive cloths, as they can damage the lenses. Do not rinse glasses under running water. Gently clean the lenses and dry them before storing in the charging case or wearing.
